Riding Waves Mural in Monona WI

This mural project has been in the making for 2 years for me and even longer for Madison Public Art Project, who commissioned the project.

The focus is on mental health awareness. With waves ebbing and flowing, we see a swirling design that finds it’s way to a calm at the last pillar. The location is at the end of Monona Drive, a highly trafficked area, when you get on and off the belt line in Monona, WI. With the amount of cars going by, the variety of moods experienced on this drive varies day to day and person to person. This mural is a reminder to honor wherever you’re at emotionally, and respect these “waves” are what we all go through. The design is a reflection of our community as well, with the swells and calmness we find ourselves interacting with each other based on these moods, actions and reactions effect those around us. I’d also like to say, self awareness changes our lives. When we take a look at ourselves and the core of where our emotions stem from, we can make positive changes.

Thursday May 18th, is the unveiling of the mural. Join us in celebration 4-6pm at Country Inn & Suites by Radisson in Monona for a champagne toast and guest speakers, including myself. More information here

HUGE thank you for the positive comments as I’m painting! More pics and story to come!

Thank you Madison Public Art Project for the opportunity to paint this unique canvas and for fundraising and to the many generous sponsors. A special thank you to Kristie GoForth for your support and everyone who helped. This Includes traffic control so we could safely get to the location during painting days, and the staff at the Country Inn & Suites by Radisson for letting me use their restroom, many played a part in making this happen.
